Hello! My name is Kate.  I am currently in Northwest Ohio. I live with my husband and three children. My interest in Sign Language peaked in college. It was there I joined a deaf ministry and learned Sign Language from the deaf community.  I have always had a heart for the deaf and I love the people that are a part of that culture!  I have served as a church interpreter for several years.  I also have served as a freelance interpreter for some venues.  I attend deaf socials when possible, to build relationships within the deaf in the community.  I have had the opportunity to start two deaf ministries in local churches, direct an ASL only drama and ran a business working as a service provider with the D/deaf and Hard of Hearing.  After I was married and had my first child, it was very important to me to teach him Sign Language when he was born.  It was a joy to see him one day respond to my husband and I using sign.  We rarely had moments of frustration trying to figure out what he wanted.  He learned about 50-75 signs and it really helped in those early years.  My desire is to teach mom and/or caregivers how to communicate in sign with their child.  It is not a scary thing. It is beautiful once you learn the signs and watch their little eyes light up because they understand what you are talking about!  The next reward is when they sign back to you!  I also love teaching older children and adults!
